| Outreach
Services extends library service outside the confines
of Morrisson-Reeves Library to all individuals who qualify for
our services in our legally defined service area. Residents
of Wayne Township are eligible for free delivery of library
materials or materials by mail through our Homebound
Services. Residents of Abington, Boston, Clay, Dalton,
Franklin, Green, Harrison, New Garden, Perry and Webster Townships
are served through the Wayne County Contractual Library
(WCCL) Bookmobile. Inmates of the Wayne County Sheriff
Correctional Center are served through our Jail Library
Service. The Literacy Resource Center manages
the county wide adult literacy program. Outreach Services maintains
the Quigg Family Foundation Library at the Jeffers Unit
of the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County. Applications
for the Indiana State Library’s Talking Book Service
are available through Outreach Services. In addition, Outreach
Services provides deposit collections to facilities
in Wayne Township and the WCCL service areas.

Homebound
Services
Homebound
Services provides free delivery
of materials by library van or by mail to residents of Wayne
Township who are unable to visit Morrisson-Reeves Library
due to a physical illness or other incapacity. The service
also provides reader’s advisory and accepts requests for materials
on a specific subject or for a specific title. Materials available
for loan include:
Books
in both standard print, large print and paperback

Magazines

Audio books on cassette tape or CD

VHS videotapes

DVD
In
addition, Homebound Services provides regular video showings
in various facilities visited by service staff and supplies
applications for the Indiana State Library’s Talking Book
Service.

Jail
Library Service
Outreach
Services staff provides weekly distribution of books to inmates
of the Wayne County Sheriff Correctional Center. The service
includes reader’s advisory and special request books.

Literacy
Resource Center
With
the support of the Wayne County Literacy Coalition, Inc.,
the LRC offers FREE training for
volunteers and FREE one-to-one tutoring
for adults in Wayne County who want to learn to read, write,
do basic math or learn English as a second language.

Quigg
Family Foundation Library
(Jeffers Unit, Boys & Girls Club)
Outreach Services provides library service
to Club members, staff and officially recognized volunteers
of the Jeffers Unit of the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne
County. The mini-library maintains a collection of books,
magazines for checkout and puzzles for use in the Library.
The Library is open in the afternoons Monday through Thursday.

Talking Books
Service
The Talking Books Service is a federally funded
service administered by the Indiana State Library, which provides
library services to persons who are unable to read print materials
due to a visual or physical disability. The service loans
Braille, large print and recorded materials to Indiana residents
eligible for the service. Materials are mailed postage free
to individuals with return postage pre-paid. Applications
for the service are available through Outreach Services. Players
for recorded materials are provided free of charge to users
of the service and may be exchanged if necessary through Outreach
Services.

Deposit Collections
Outreach
Services maintains small collections of books in various locations
in Wayne Township and the WCCL service area. The collections
are rotated regularly providing ever-changing materials for
readers at these facilities.
