Storytimes introduce children
to childrens literature and provide a shared group experience
for them. Storytimes acquaint children with a wide range of books,
folktales and legends, and encourages development of life-long
reading interests. Reading is the key to success in life. It is
our goal to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience for
your children when they attend our programs and to assist them
in developing a love for reading.

for children 6 and older
These programs include arts and crafts, read-aloud stories, and
traditional storytelling. These programs generally last 60 minutes.
Registration
Advanced registration is required because of the large number
of children interested in attending storytimes. We also have registration
to limit the size of each group to ensure the quality of the experience.
Attendance
The storytime sessions have a large attendence. If you find you
will be unable to attend storytime after the series has begun,
please notify the librarian.
Snow Day: The library is almost always open; if
in doubt, please call.
Nametags
Prior to each storytime, nametags will be displayed on the table
in the Childrens Program Room so that the children can select
their own.
Program
Parents should arrive a few minutes before storytime so that children
may select their nametags, go the the restroom, get a drink of
water, etc., prior to the beginning of each program. It is very
disruptive to the group when a child arrives late to the program.
Toddler Time and Storytime session generally lasts 30 minutes.
It is necessary to ask parents to remain in the building during
storytime.
A Few Reminders
Younger and older siblings do
not attend storytimes that are not appropriate for their age.
Participants should arrive a few
minutes early. It is very disruptive to the group when a child
arrives late to the program.
If parents wish to attend storytime
with their child they may, but we ask they participate with their
children in the program. If parents wish to socialize with friends,
we ask that they do so in another part of the library. This is
to ensure the quality of the program experience.
Many other programs are offered
throughout the year for children of all ages. Please call (765)966-8291
for more information.
